Terms of use
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Cutline app for iPhone and iPad and of this website. Cutline is made by Sydcup OÜ, a company registered in Estonia (“Sydcup”, “we”, “us”). Our full company details are at the end of these terms. By using either, you agree to these terms.
The app licence
Cutline is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to that agreement; where the two conflict, Apple’s agreement applies.
Cutline Pro
Cutline is free to download. Cutline Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, billed yearly or monthly through your Apple Account. The App Store shows the current price in your currency, and any free trial, before you subscribe.
- Free trial. A plan may include a free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you’re charged. If you leave “Remind me before the trial ends” switched on — it is by default — Cutline reminds you in the app two days before the trial ends.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancelling. Manage or cancel at any time in your App Store account settings. Pro features stay available until the end of the period you’ve paid for. After that you keep the free plan, and your projects stay on your device.
- Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple, and Apple’s refund policies apply.
- Price changes. Prices may change. A price change never applies to a period you’ve already paid for, and Apple tells you before a higher price applies to your subscription.
Restoring purchases
If you reinstall Cutline or use another iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Cutline Pro and tap Restore purchases while signed in with the same Apple Account. One subscription covers iPhone and iPad.
Your recordings are yours
You own everything you record, import, transcribe and export with Cutline. We claim no rights over it. Because everything is processed on your device, we never receive it.
Using Cutline responsibly
- Consent. Recording people may require their consent — in some places, the consent of everyone in the conversation. You’re responsible for following the law where you record.
- Lawful use. Don’t use Cutline to infringe anyone’s rights or to break the law.
- Transcripts can be wrong. Automatic transcription is very good but not perfect. Check anything you’ll quote, publish or rely on against the recording.
Services the app relies on
Cutline uses a few outside services: Apple’s App Store for purchases, RevenueCat to check and restore them, Google’s Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for usage data and crash reports if you allow them, Firebase Remote Config for occasional in-app notices, and Hugging Face for speech model downloads. The privacy policy explains what each one receives and what you can switch off. If one of them is unavailable, the part of Cutline that depends on it may not work for a while; editing on your device carries on.
Changes to the app
We keep improving Cutline, so features may change. We’ll try to give notice before removing anything significant from Cutline Pro.
Open-source software
Cutline includes open-source software and speech models, including WhisperKit and OpenAI’s Whisper model weights, under their own licences. The full list is in the app under Settings → Open source & model credits.
Disclaimer
Cutline and this website are provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t guarantee that they’ll be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep backups of recordings that matter to you.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost data, arising from your use of Cutline or this website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
Age
You must be at least 13, or the minimum age in your country, to use Cutline.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using Cutline after a change, you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. If you’re a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
