Who it's for

For people who record more than they can edit.

  • Podcasters

Cut the ums. Keep the episode.

  • Journalists and interviewers

Your interviews stay on your iPhone, not on someone else's server.

  • Video creators

Vertical captions, straight from the transcript.

  • Researchers and students

    Searchable transcripts, exported with timecodes.

How it works

Delete text. The recording follows.

Every word in the transcript knows exactly where it sits in the recording. Edit one and you've edited the other.

  1. 01

    Record or import

Record audio right in the app, or bring in audio and video from Files, Photos, the share sheet or AirDrop. M4A, MP3, WAV, AIFF, MP4 and MOV.

  2. 02

    Transcribed on your device

Apple's on-device speech recognition, or a Whisper speech model you download once for other languages and higher accuracy. It keeps going in the background.

  3. 03

    Edit the text

Select a word, a sentence or a paragraph and delete it. The audio and video cut with it, with a short crossfade so the join doesn't click. Unlimited undo.

Features

A real editor, not a trick.

Author in text. Refine on the timeline. Every cut you make in the transcript can be adjusted by hand, down to the millisecond.

The ums, found for you.

Cutline finds the ums, uhs and you-knows. Review them one by one, or with Pro remove every one at once. Silences go the same way, with as much breathing room left in as you choose.

Built-in filler lists for English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese — and you can edit them.

Cut by sentence. Fix by millisecond.Pro

Open the timeline and drag any cut's start or end. Ripple changes the length; roll keeps it. Snapping, waveform zoom and a looping preview while you drag. Edges you set by hand stay put when you transcribe again, as long as the words still match.

Captions that keep up with the words.

Six caption styles, five of them following each word as it's spoken, burned into your video export. Or export SRT and VTT subtitle files for anywhere else.

Vertical, with the person kept in frame.Pro

Reframe to 9:16 or 1:1 and Cutline follows the person, keeping them in frame. Or drag to frame it yourself.

Search everything you've recorded.

Search every transcript on your device at once, and find the moment someone said the thing, in any project.

B-roll that follows the words it belongs to.Pro

Up to four tracks — your main recording, B-roll, C-roll and music. Overlays anchor to words, not timecode, so cutting earlier in the episode never strands them.

One recording. Several cuts.Pro

Keep up to twelve versions in a project — the full episode, a highlights reel, a vertical cut. They all share one transcription.

Privacy

Your recordings never leave your device.

They're transcribed and edited entirely on your iPhone or iPad, and they are never uploaded. There's no account, so there's no server holding your interviews.

If you allow it, Cutline sends anonymous usage data and crash reports — which features are used, how long exports take, where something went wrong — so we can fix things and decide what to build. They never include your audio, your transcript, your file names or your project names. Both are off until you say otherwise, and you can change your mind any time in Settings → Privacy.
